Congratulations to the Guardians Class of 2022!

Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County graduated its second class on May 28, 2022. The ceremony celebrated the academic success of the Class of 2022, including Valedictorian John Fleischer, Salutatorian Eli Rogers, Alex Guerrero, Cecilia Igielinski, Olivia Schwarz, Max Seibold, Natalie Skagerberg, and Andrew Warden.

As a graduation requirement and rite of passage to a life of virtue and self-government, each senior developed and defended a Senior Thesis. This project is a culmination of the student’s classical education in which they focus on a book and themes delivered through the curriculum to write, orally deliver, and defend a topic. This year, our seniors presented the following theses:

  • Hyperindividualism and Alienation in Frankenstein
  • Societal Behavior: True Virtue and Wisdom in Pride and Prejudice
  • Critical Theory Origins in the Weimar Republic, Germany
  • Relationship with God Necessary for Aristotelian Happiness in David’s Psalms
  • Universal and Individual Virtue in Kierkegaard’s Fear and Trembling
  • Moral Implications in Musical Styles of Liturgical Worship
  • Redefining Athletic Success as Excellence Based on Plato’s Argument on Justice for the Soul
  • Necessity of Preserving Knowledge and Tradition in A Canticle for Lebowitz

These Class of 2022 received acceptance to higher education institutions across the nation, including Hillsdale College, John Brown University, Colorado Christian University, Colorado State University, CU Denver, University of Wyoming, University of Oklahoma, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, University of Alaska, Colorado Mountain College, Belhaven University, Reformation Bible College, New Saint Andrews College, and John Paul the Great Catholic University.

Combined, Ascent Classical’s eight graduates received more than $363,000 in merit-based academic and athletics scholarships to utilize during their college careers. The school achieved a 100% graduation rate for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Congratulations, Guardians!
